Stroll amongst 1000’s of free-flying butterflies in our year ’round, indoor tropical garden featuring over 150 species of tropical plants, waterfalls, streams and exotic birds. The Festival of the Sound Office is now home to this historic Canadian Pacific Train Station. In 1995, the building was recognized federally as a building of architectural, historic, and environmental significance by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada under the Heritage Railway Stations Protections Act. The Festival of the Sound is one of Canada’s premier destinations for classical and jazz music. The Festival is held annually from mid-July to mid-August at a variety of venues including the Charles W. Stockey Centre for the Performing Arts; The Island Queen Cruise Ship; Chippewa Cruise Ship; St. Andrew’s Presbyterian; Seguin Valley Golf Club and more. The Festival Office offers local tourism information, public facilities, space to lock bicycles(secure during office hours), historic sites, close up live train-viewing area(indoor and outdoor), architectural building, historic building, local history, arts gallery, gift shop and of course opportunity to purchase Festival of the Sound event tickets and more!

Joseph Brant Museum: Built between 1937-1938 as a replica of the original home of Captain Joseph Brant, Thayendanegea, one of Burlington’s earliest settlers and an important figure in Canadian history, the Joseph Brant Museum is Burlington’s community museum. Through guided tours, changing exhibits, interactive displays, a hands-on discovery room, a new community gallery, educational programming, and special events, Joseph Brant Museum tells the stories relating to the development of the Burlington area complimented by travelling exhibitions that enrich the museum’s dialogue with the community. Ireland House Built between 1835-1837, Ireland House at Oakridge Farm was the home of Joseph Ireland, an English Immigrant and one of Burlington’s earliest settlers. In 1987 the home became a museum and the historic farmstead, now resting on 4.5 acres of original farmland, with its buildings, yards, gardens, and contents is interpreted to three distinct time periods, representing the generations of Ireland family who lived in the house. Visitors enjoy tours of the house by costumed interpreters, exhibits, special events, and participatory activities in keeping with the character and history of the House and the Ireland family.

Leave the 21st century behind as you enter the world of the 1840s at the elegant Matheson House, home of the award-winning Perth Museum. This popular tourist attraction, located downtown at 11 Gore Street East, is a National Historic Site.

The stone dwelling was built in 1840 for the Honourable Roderick Matheson, wealthy merchant and a senator in Canada’s first parliament after Confederation. The four period rooms – parlour, dining room, drawing room and a warm and welcoming kitchen – have been carefully restored and furnished to reflect the lifestyle of the Matheson family who owned the house for 90 years.

Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre is a public art gallery located in Haliburton’s landmark rail station, at the head of Haliburton County Rail Trail.
It features exhibitions of contemporary art by regional artists in the main gallery (formerly the freight room), community programming and an eclectic Gallery Shop where you will discover one of a kind craft and art for home, cottage and gift-giving.
Admission to the gallery is free, donations gladly accepted. Rails End Gallery is a registered Canadian Charity (#118950641) devoted to bringing art to life in Haliburton.

Rails End is host to two major festivals each summer – Haliburton Art and Craft Festival (fourth weekend in July) where over 100 artists and artisans gather to show and sell their work in Head Lake Park next to the Gallery.
-Haliburton DrumFest (Labour Day Weekend), a lively celebration of drumming and rhythm in community with world drumming and percussion performances, drum circles and a vendor market.
